Treatment of Chlamydia Symptoms
HIV positive and HIV negative patients both get the same treatment of chlamydia. However, all sex partners should be evaluated and tested for chlamydia and if found, should be treated.
A person being treated for chlamydia should abstain from sexual intercourse during the treatment and one week after single dose antibiotic.
Person being treated for chlamydia but partner not being treated for it, has a risk of reinfection. Multiple chlamydia infections can lead to serious reproductive health complications in women, including infertility.
Anyone treated for chlamydia should be reevaluated after three months even if their sexual partners had treatment of chlamydia.
