You can calculate how many drops are coming down per minute, to set the rate.

E.g. if there are 20 drops per minute, then the rate is 1ml per minute.

This is generally applicable for all liquids, like blood, saline, etc.

1ml liquid contains nearly 20 drops. But this can be variable depending upon the viscosity of the liquid too.
